The demand for documentary films is growing worldwide — the film industry even describes it as the
“golden age of documentaries”. Taking this importance as starting point, and as an initiative to support
local documentary filmmakers gain more access to international scenes, the Goethe-Institut Jordanien,
within the framework of the European Film Festival 2020, will organize an online workshop that
focuses on developing film projects with the intention to enter global markets.
The 3-day workshop takes a comprehensive look at how to package the film idea — from doing the
research, developing a trailer, to drafting a timeline and a first budget, which can be then pitched to
international partners and funding institutions. The core of this interactive workshop is to work on
ideas of the participants to create their own films by examining tools of writing a proposal —
logline, synopsis and treatment, and by defining the stylistic approach in the director's note.
This workshop is meant to be a platform for dialogue, creative exchange and collaboration, with the
possibility of one-to-one consultancies.
